In Practice, it was Noah Strømsted who set the pace however in qualifying Hiyu Yamakoshi was at the top of the times.
All 30 drivers emerged onto the track which was much hotter than in Practice with the temperature being over 50°C. The drivers were immediately on the pace in this F3 Qualifying session.
Earliest Lap Times
Fionn McLaughlin was one of the first drivers to set a time, setting a 1:45.906. However, as drivers began to push the times began to rapidly fall.
Nicola Lacorte set a time of 1:34.507 and then Ernesto Rivera set a 1:34.209.
As the drivers started push laps, times dropped by over 10 seconds. Salim Hanna was the first driver to set a time in the 1:22s before Ferrari Junior Tuukka Taponen became the first to set a 1:21.
Théophile Naël appeared to be having some struggles with his lap time being deleted as well as suffering with oversteer.
Times Deleted
Freddie Slater also had his time deleted however he was not the only one.
Several drivers were forced to set their best times again after suffering from track limits infringements.
Fastest man in practice, Strømsted was able to set the fastest lap with a 1:21.859. Shortly after, Taponen returned to the top with a 1:21.775.
All drivers returned to the pits, but Hiyu Yamakoshi was the first back on track and went to the top of the times with a 1:21.730.
The Final Rush
Before all drivers returned to the track, F3 Qualifying was disrupted by a brief yellow flag that allowed a Marshall to replace a bollard that Slater had hit.
During the final 10 minutes, all drivers were jostling for lap position and Pedro Clerot went onto the grass whilst trying to overtake Louis Sharp.
With three minutes left on the Qualifying clock, the session looked more like a Sprint Race than Qualifying.
Taito Kato was pushing into the final corner but spun and lost his impressive lap time.
It was Hiyu Yamakoshi who was untouchable at the top to take pole position.
