Pedro Acosta tops MotoGP Practice and goes straight into Q2. He was followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio in second and Raúl Fernández in third—a quiet session throughout, with many people struggling to make a good lap time at Balaton Park.

Start of the session

The session had a slow start with an early pace set by people like Fermín Aldeguer, Pedro Acosta, Marc Márquez and Enea Bastianini. It was nice to see all the manufacturers within the top 10 for the first 10 minutes.

With the tight and twisty style of this circuit, lots of riders were struggling to hit all their apexes. Balaton Park is a completely different circuit from Mugello last weekend. The session was quite windy, so the riders had that to contend with while setting their fastest laps.

The session’s slow pace continued at the halfway point, with Acosta fastest, ahead of Márquez and Marco Bezzecchi. Both factory Ducati Lenovo Team riders have got a new tail unit for this weekend.

Lots of riders kept having moments and running wide during the session. This track has little room for error, with very little runoff. This moment for Ai Ogura was one of the biggest moments of the session.

The rookie Diogo Moreira had a strong session and looked smooth throughout, going into fifth with 20 minutes to go. Iker Lecuona also had a strong session, sitting 10th at this time. He is standing in this weekend for Álex Márquez, who is still out injured after Catalunya. Cal Cruthlow is also here this weekend, replacing Johann Zarco, who is also still injured.

Last 10 Minutes

Unlike usual, the final 10 minutes were quite quiet, until the last five minutes, when everyone came out on circuit. While pushing on a lap, Brad Binder crashed, bringing out the yellow flag. Lots of people seemed to be struggling not to have moments while pushing for a lap time, like this one for Bagnaia.

While the battle at the top of the timesheet was non-existent, the battle for the last few places in Q2 was intense. Jack Miller, Quartararo and Toprak Razgatlıoğlu were all battling for the last place, which eventually went to Miller.

It was Acosta who topped the session. Fabio Di Giannantonio and Raul Fernandez were just behind. Some big misses in Q2 were Bagnaia, Marini and Bastianini.
