Marco Bezzecchi claimed victory on home soil in the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix, ahead of his teammate Jorge Martín and Francesco Bagnaia. After chasing Bagnaia for the majority of the race, Bezzecchi made an incredible move to secure the win in Mugello.

An Impeccable start

Pole sitter Marco Bezzecchi had an amazing launch as Raúl Fernández, starting alongside the Aprilia rider, dropped to 18th after going wide. Francesco Bagnaia trailed in third behind Jorge Martín and Bezzecchi in front.

After Turn 1, the Aprilia riders had a moment as Martín took the lead momentarily before Bezzecchi retook it. However, Martín ran slightly wide, and that gave Bagnaia the chance to go up to second.

At the start of Lap 3, the Ducati rider took the lead and quickly built a gap ahead of Bezzecchi. Meanwhile, Pedro Acosta made his way up to fifth position, trailing behind Marc Márquez in fourth.

Pedro Acosta started a battle for fourth against Marc Márquez, which lasted for several laps as both riders went back and forth. On Lap 8, Fermín Aldeguer joined the battle momentarily before dropping down a couple of positions

The Chase for the Lead

Around lap 10, Bezzecchi closed the gap to Bagnaia, starting the battle for first as Martín sat in third position. Further back, Alex Rins went to the gravel and deployed a momentary yellow flag. A couple of laps later, Enea Bastianini had to retire after going to the gravel.

After falling down the order, Fernández made his way up to ninth position, behind Di Giannantonio. At the start of Lap 14, Bezzecchi took the inside and retook the lead, building a second gap to Bagnaia as Martín also overtook the Ducati rider and claimed second place.

The back and forth for fourth position continued, as Acosta tried once again to overtake Márquez. However, by Lap 16, Ai Ogura and Fabio Di Giannantonio joined the battle. After fighting it for several laps, Ogura took fourth ahead of Di Giannantonio, Acosta, and Márquez, down in seventh.

Last Lap Fight for Third

At the front, and with a three-second gap between them, Marco Bezzecchi crossed the line ahead of his teammate and extended his lead in the championship standings.

Ai Ogura, after putting in an amazing last lap, fought for third place against Bagnaia. In the end, it was Francesco Bagnaia who managed to defend the position and claim a home podium.
