Content Days officially marked the unofficial start of the 2026 NTT IndyCar Series season, giving a first glimpse of what drivers and teams are expecting in a new campaign. Further, for Dale Coyne Racing‘s rookie Dennis Hauger and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing‘s Jack Harvey, an opportunity to reflect on the challenges ahead, particularly the Indianapolis 500.

Rising to the Challenge

Dennis Hauger arrives in IndyCar following a strong INDY NXT season that culminated in the championship win. The Norwegian described Content Days as “intense” and “really fun”, highlighting the professional environment and packed schedule. Indeed, he’s “looking forward to get the driving started obviously as well.” As it has been a while since he last raced.

However, Hauger acknowledged the pressures of a rookie season but remains focused on preparation for now. I’m not worried… from what we showed in testing, we know we can do some good lap times. It’s just about doing the work… staying on top of things.”

Working with DCR, which the rookie described as feeling like a “family”, gives him confidence in his first full IndyCar season. The team’s partnership with Andretti Global allows the young driver to access additional expertise. Though Hauger emphasised that “it will be a work in progress as we get the season going.”

Oval tracks present the biggest challenge for the rookie. “Just trying to get as much experience as possible and learn as much as possible from the team and everyone around, he explained. Still, the DCR driver is optimistic about street and road courses, feeling “pretty confident” heading into the St Petersburg season opener. Hauger also named Indy itself as a major motivator, having watched the 2025 race live and calling it insane… the amount of people that is there, the atmosphere, it’s something I’ve never experienced elsewhere.”

Preparation and Precision

Jack Harvey returns in 2026 as the only driver for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, focusing on their Indy-only programme. Reflecting on the opportunity, he commented, “It’s amazing… it’s never lost on me what a privilege this is we get to do it.” Even though it’s a single-race programme, Harvey highlighted that “the collective group we’ve put together doesn’t just arrive in May and hope for the best,” showing the off-season work invested in both car and team.

Looking ahead, Harvey remains optimistic and grounded. Continuity with Dreyer & Reinbold and support from sponsors like INVST gives him confidence: “Sometimes we roll a plane off the cliff and build it on the way down… We have found a way to get that thing to come up and fly pretty well.” With experience, preparation, and focus, Harvey is ready to turn the work into results at the biggest race of the year.

Looking Ahead

For Dale Coyne Racing and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, 2026 represents contrasting but complementary stories. Hauger is learning, adapting, and building his career, while Harvey is about extracting maximum performance in a tightly focused Indy 500 effort. Both teams face challenges like limited testing but remain optimistic. With preparation, clear goals, and focus, both drivers, young and older, aim to turn opportunities into results when it matters most.
