30 years after the incredible success of the F1 Gtr at Le Mans, McLaren unveiled its Hypercar ahead of the 2027 WEC season.
McLaren returns to the Endurance World
The World Endurance Championship it’s expanding its reach, developing and improving year after year. Witnessed by the entrance of new constructors: Genesis will make its debut in 2026 and McLaren will follow in 2027 with the Hypercar livery revealed for the first time on June 14th, 30 years after the F1 Gtr success.
“McLaren Racing’s return to the FIA World Endurance Championship marks the beginning of a new and exciting chapter for us. We have a rich history in the sport together with McLaren Automotive, having raced and won on our first attempt at Le Mans in 1995.” said Zack Brown (CEO of McLaren Racing).

Design and Engineering: McLaren’s bold Hypercar unveiled
The British team opted for Dallara as their chassis producer and the Endurance Project will be powered by the race car’s unique V6 powertrain, paired with a bespoke hybrid unit, produced by Williams Advanced Engineering and Bosh as required by the regulation.

The car presented at Le Mans doesn’t have an official name yet. It stands out for its high nose that leaves room for a large air intake divided into three segments. While the sides have an aerodynamic profile that rises up to connect with the rear wing.

The colors of the team are in line with McLaren Racing’s identity: orange and black. The numbers 59 and 95, the same as the Lmgt3, stand out on the Hypercar presented: the first is that of the car that won at Le Mans with J.J. Lehto, Yannick Dalmas and Masanori Sekiya, the second is the year of this victory.

Strategic moves: United Autosports and a new Team Principal
McLaren choosed to rely on United Autosport founded by McLaren Racing’s CEO Zack Brown. Furthermore the team principal has been announced: the British James Barclay, who is leaving his current role at Jaguar TCS Racing in Formula E.
