1–2 minutes

Rafael Câmara delivered when it mattered most, clinching pole position for the Formula 3 qualifying session in Barcelona. On a day of shifting times and fierce battles, the Brazilian shone brightest.

Before qualifying, the drivers already had 45 minutes of track time in free practice. Rafael Câmara topped the session, edging out Alessandro Giusti and local hope Mari Boya. That early pace proved a sign of things to come.

Inthraphuvasak Sets the First Benchmark

As qualifying got underway, Inthraphuvasak quickly made his mark. He posted a 1:29.433, going over three tenths faster than Rafael Câmara. But the session was just heating up.

Shortly after, Taponen raised the bar. He crossed the line with a 1:29.341, just 0.042s ahead of Inthraphuvasak. Wharton slotted into third for ART Grand Prix, whose drivers showed strong pace early on. Laurens van Hoepen held P10, putting all ART cars inside the top 12.

Rafael Câmara Strikes Back

With 15 minutes remaining, all 30 drivers returned to the track on new tyres. It didn’t take long for the order to shift again. With 10 minutes left, Rafael Câmara stormed to the top with a 1:28.761. That time proved unbeatable.

Van Hoepen jumped into second, over three-tenths behind. Giusti moved up to P3, leading MP Motorsport teammate Tramnitz. Wharton and Taponen followed closely in fifth and sixth.

Final Push Brings Late Surprises

As the clock ticked down, teams brought their drivers back to the pits for one final reset. With six and a half minutes to go, the cars re-emerged for a last push. Interestingly, Câmara waited until most others had gone out, choosing clean air for his final effort.

In the dying seconds, Tsolov briefly grabbed P2. But no one had enough to challenge Câmara’s best. The Brazilian sealed the Aramco Pole Position Award in style.

Looking Ahead to the Sprint

Thanks to the reverse grid rule, Bilinski will start from pole in tomorrow’s sprint race. Stenshorne lines up beside him on the front row. The lights go out at 10:05 local time.

Don’t miss it — Barcelona always delivers drama in Formula 3.
