Qualifying was still under the sun in Bahrain for Formula 3. With 30 minutes of pure speed, discover how Rafael Câmara took the pole.
The Brazilian driver keeps showing his talent in this second Formula 3 weekend. Already taking the pole in Australia, he once more took it in Bahrain. However, Trident was using a different strategy in the beginning of the session. They were the last ones to go out, and Câmara was on old tyres. But that’s how they manage to keep out of the traffic during the installation laps. An Hitech TGR even went out off the track to overtake and gain a position on track. It is also to be noted that Freddie Slater is replacing Nikita Bedrin at AIX Racing, just like the test in Bahrain two weeks ago.
Gerrard Xie is the first one to go for a time. The Hitech’s drivers as well as Rafael Câmara decided to pit straight away, as they were all on old tyres. Charlie Wurz made a small mistake by blocking his left front tyre, making him lose time and place only in p16. Several drivers have had their lap times deleted for exceeding track limits at Turn 4. Nikola Tsolov takes first place with a 1:50.506 time, in front oh Christian Ho and James Wharton.
Everyone is on new tyres for the second attempt. Callum Voisin takes first place, only 0.023 seconds in front of Alessandro Giusti, in 1:49.882. Mari Boya and Louis Sharp have their lap time deleted for track limits violations. Roman Billinski was late to go out for his last attempt and even had help form his mechanics, which is forbidden.
At last, a battle between Callum Voisin and Rafael Câmara for the pole was on. The Brazilian takes first place in 1:49.214 that put him on pole. Callum Voisin is second and Charlie Wurz third. With a p12, Joshua Dufek will be on pole for the sprint race, alongside his teammate Martinius Stenshorne.
