After a short pause, Formula 2 is back on track in Bahrain. This Free Practice session was strangely calm, with everyone taking back their mark.
Since the Australian Grand Prix, the drivers in Formula 2 had time to prepare for the weekend ahead. It was a discipline Free Practice where no driver made a single mistake. Joshua Dürksen did the most laps done, with 19 under his belt, collecting a lot of data for the races.
The session started with all of the drivers going out in hard tyres. Jak Crawford was the first driver to make a time, in 1:49.433. He remained at the front until the mid session, when interesting times started to fall. Eleven drivers were under a second of difference, with Joseph María Martí leading the field in 1:48.379, 0.008 seconds in front of Victor Martins. With 15 minutes remaining, the session was more calm with a lot of drivers in the pit to prepare for their final run. In the end, Oliver Goethe took the fastest time, going under the 1:48 time with all three fastest sectors, in 1:47.789. His teammate Richard Verschoor is second, and Martí completes the top 3.
