Fabio Di Giannantonio goes fastest to top the MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix Practice. He finished ahead of Marc Márquez and Marco Bezzecchi in the times.

Start of Session

As the lights went green at the end of the pit lane, all the riders headed out for the session. This is the first session under Qatar’s lights.

The lights were not just shining in the sky, but sparking on the track for stand-in rider Jake Dixon. His Honda was sending sparks from rubbing on the side. The early pace put Bezzecchi on top of the times ahead of Francesco Bagnaia and M. Márquez.

As the session progressed and riders worked on their race setups, Di Giannantonio moved to the top of the timesheets. After a quiet few rounds for the #49, he had a very fast pace.

There was a mechanical issue for the Championship leader, M. Márquez. His chain snapped off, taking some aero with it. After being fastest in this morning’s session, and having a chance to take the title this weekend, he would not have wanted that.

Last 10 Minutes

The last 10 minutes were slow to start. Riders were in the pits getting fresh tyres on their machines. All the riders went out in the last five minutes for their final time attack.

Di Giannantonio broke the lap record with two minutes to go, 1:50.406. All 18 riders now pushed to beat that lap time. The whole field was split by two seconds, but there were some gaps in times.

No one could beat his time by the time the chequered flag came out and he ended the session fastest. He finished ahead of M. Marquez and Bezzecchi. Jorge Martín ended the session in P7, not all hope is gone in the championship.
