F1 Academy has returned for the penultimate round with both the Driver’s and Team’s Championships up for grabs. Title contenders were eager to set the fastest times of Practice and it was Emma Felbermayr who was able to set the top time.
As It Happened: F1 Academy Practice
Several drivers emerged onto the Circuit of the Americas early into the F1 Academy Practice session and times began to be set.
Early in the session, Mathilda Paatz experienced an issue with her car which meant that she was unable to set a time in the Practice session.
Nina Gademan set a time of 2:10.059 to move to the top of the times before Alba Larsen became the first driver to set a time under 2:10 with a 2:09.773.
Track Limits proved to be a significant issue in the track with several drivers having to be cautious.
Alisha Palmowski, title contender, moved to the top spot with a best time of 2:09.598 and several other drivers continued to set personal bests, including Larsen.
Emma Felbermayr moved to the top before abruptly brief yellow flag interrupted the session.
The cause of the yellow flag was Payton Westcott who went off track at Turn 19 after spinning.
Palmowski returned to the top of the times, besting Felbermayr’s before the Audi driver set the fastest time, a 2:08.949.
