Today, it was confirmed that Maximilian Günther will leave join the Paysafe Envision Formula E Team for Season 13.

After two seasons with DS Penske, the German driver takes on a new challenge ahead of the GEN4 Era, with preparations beginning for pre-season testing in November.

The German driver’s Formula E career is well decorated. He has amassed 7 wins, 12 podiums and 4 pole positions. At 22 years old, his first win marked a milestone early on in his career. Not only did he win but he also earned the title of ‘the youngest race winner’. He held this record for 6 years before ex-teammate Taylor Barnard took the title in the second race of the London E-Prix.

Paysafe Envisions Fresh Start

Before Season 12 concluded, the team announced their decision to start fresh with a new driver pairing heading into the new era. Losing both Joel Eriksson and Sébastien Buemi meant the team had big shoes to fill, and Team Principal Sylvain Filippi is confident Günther can do just that.

He explains, ”Max has proven how capable he is at delivering qualifying laps when it matters, as well as podium finishes and race wins. We’re incredibly excited to start working with him.”

Günther is equally as excited for this newfound partnership. He emphasises both his and the team’s ambitions for their debut season.

”Our aim is to combine our strengths and achieve great success, competing at the very top.”

Pre-season testing will kick Season 13 off, heading to Madrid in November. This will be Gunther’s first opportunity to work with the teams’ GEN4 package.
