An epic and chaotic race happened in Madrid for Formula 3. While Ugochukwu maintained his form, Slater seemed to crack under the pressure and made a crucial mistake.
Like the other races, Pedro Clerot who started P2 took the upper hand on Taito Kato. Enzo Deligny tried to overtake his teammate Bruno Del Pino but the two collapsed and created a big accident, calling the red flag. Maciej Gladysz found himself flying as he tried to pass the accident and went up on Fionn McLaughlin. In total, six cars DNFed. Nicola Lacorte also seemed to have an issue with his car but could go back into the pitlane.
An heavy mistake
The restart was a rolling start to prevent any other issues. He had a really early start, even before the last corner. Ugochukwu hesitated to make a move on Taponen for P3. A little behind, Slater also wanted to attack Yamakoshi. Nicola Lacorte took a 5-seconds penalty for speeding into the pitlane. Freddie Slater made a mistake on lap 7, giving the opportunity to Kanato Le behind him to come closer to him. Rivera and Giusti had a small battle for P6.
De Palo almost touched the wall after his battle with Wharton. Yamakoshi tried to overtake Colnaghi but failed to do so, giving the opportunity to Slater to come closer. However, the British driver spun all alone, putting an end to his race. Alessandro Giusti overtook Ernesto Rivera, but both them and Alex Powell cut the next chicane.
New winner and Campos on top
The Safety Car was called with the car of Slater being stuck on track. The Safety Car went back into the pit on lap 12 for the second restart. Wharton tried to attack Nael but failed to pass. The Prema locked his tyres and Yevan David came really close behind him. Ernesto Rivera looked like he was losing rhythm with the driver in front of him. Kanato Le tried to overtake Matteo De Palo but failed to do so.
Pedro Clerot took his first Formula 3 race, in front of Taito Kato and Tuukka Taponen. Both Freddie Slater and Ugo Ugochukwu are on 141 points for the championship. Campos Racing also officially wins the Team Championship, at their home race.
