MotoGP is back this weekend for the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. Last year, Marc Márquez took the victory by 0.5 seconds over Marco Bezzecchi in second, with Álex Márquez taking third.
In Moto2, Celestino Vietti took the victory, pleasing the Italians’ hearts. Joining him on the podium was Barry Baltus and Daniel Holgardo after a quiet race.
There was a six rider battle for the victory in Moto3, which was eventually taken by José Antonio Rueda. Máximo Quiles took second with Adrián Fernández in third. The whole podium was covered by 0.1 seconds.
Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli
The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli has been on the MotoGP calendar since 2007. The circuit is 2.63 miles (4.23 km) long, with 6 left corners and 10 right corners. The flowing nature of the circuit creates good, high-speed racing over 27 laps.
The lap record is held by Francesco Bagnaia, set in 2024 at 1:30.031. M. Márquez has the most victories around the circuit with six wins. Bagnaia, Jorge Lorenzo and Maverick Viñales hold the most pole positions at the circuit with four each.
What to Expext
The Misano circuit is a very strong track for Ducati. As their local track, the manufacturer gets to do a lot of testing there, making the team the favourite going into the weekend. Aprilia have been the most consistent manufacturer this year, so their bike will be competitive this weekend as well.
Following the Aragon Grand Prix, M. Márquez and Bezzecchi closed the gap on Jorge Martín’s championship lead, everything is still to play for.
