MotoGP is back this weekend with the Aragon Grand Prix at the MotorLand Aragón circuit. Last year, the race was won by Marc Márquez over a second ahead of his brother Álex Márquez, with Francesco Bagnaia a further second behind.
The Moto2 race was tightly contested and won by Deniz Öncü, who was 0.003 seconds ahead of Diogo Moreira. Barry Baltus completed the podium nearly two seconds behind the front pair.
The Moto3 race had a battle of eight riders for the lead. The win was eventually taken by David Muñoz ahead of Máximo Quiles and Álvaro Carpe.
MotorLand Aragón
MotorLand Aragón has been on the calendar since 2010 and has created some amazing races over the years. The most successful rider around the circuit has been M. Márquez with seven wins and seven pole positions. M. Márquez also has the lap record around the circuit with a lap time of 01:45.704.
The track was built in 2009 after the road race nearby was stopped for being too dangerous. The track is 3.15 miles (5.08km) long, with 10 left corners and 7 right corners. The race is held over 23 laps, creating a fast-paced race for all the riders.
What to Expect
Ducati has always been strong around this circuit, so expect to see them at the front of the race. Aprilia has not always been the best around this circuit so their riders might struggle. The race should see good battles throughout the field.
Ai Ogura one of the front runners in the championship is out of the weekend before it has even started with an injury to his left hand from training. Lorenzo Savadori will take his place. Maverick Viñales is also still out injured and will be replaced by Pol Espagaro.
Moto2 and Moto3 should also see some really good battles for the win, given the circuit’s fast-flowing nature. Both championships have seen some close races this season, and this race will be no different.
With all the championships being close to call, this weekend should be one to remember.
