Álex Márquez was the fastest rider overall during the MotoGP British Grand Prix at Silverstone as Marco Bezzecchi came back after his injury. The Gresini rider showed impressive pace, ahead of Bezzecchi and Pedro Acosta.

Álex Márquez Goes Through

With ideal weather conditions, Free Practice 1 started. At the top, several riders from various teams swapped positions. Álex Márquez became the early benchmark, ahead of Raúl Fernández and Marc Márquez.

However, the Aprilia Racing lineup responded and took a provisional 1-2. Fernández, from SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team, bested Jorge Martín‘s fastest time so far. From Ducati’s camp, Álex Márquez thrived with BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP, as he topped the timesheets once again before pitting for the second stint of Free Practice 1.

With twenty minutes remaining, Pedro Acosta ran off the track on Turn 15, which triggered a momentary yellow flag. The session went uninterrupted.

Approaching the last 10 minutes

After Acosta’s incident, Free Practice 1 went by without any major changes. Álex Márquez still topped the timesheets, ahead of Marco Bezzecchi, who improved his previous time, and Fernández.

As the session reached the final minutes, riders went out to try improve their timings or collect more data, so some late-minute action was expected. However, Á. Márquez stayed fastest, leading Bezzecchi and Acosta.

Ultimately, the Top 10 of Free Practice 1 consisted of Ducati and Aprilia machinery except for Pedro Acosta’s KTM.
