With the Formula E 2025/26 season approaching its end, teams are beginning to confirm their lineups for next season. Citroën are the first to confirm theirs, one that is unchanged from this season. Jean-Éric Vergne and Nick Cassidy will race for the French team in the first season of the GEN4 Era.

Their Season So Far

Citroën officially joined the Formula E lineup during the 2025/26 season and have had a successful stint in their debut season. The team are currently sitting 5th in the Teams Championship standings, with Cassidy still a title contender.

Cassidy has been instrumental to Citroën’s early success, gifting them four podiums and the team’s first victory in Mexico. Despite not fighting for the championship, Vergne has contributed vital points to the team’s championship. Vergne’s Asian leg stint has been promising, with fantastic drives in Shanghai and Tokyo. From the back of the grid to a P2 finish, Vergne added to Citroën’s podium finishes.

Experience in a New Era

Both drivers have been key figures in Formula E’s evolution, and with their shared experience, they will be valuable to Citroën’s championship run. With Vergne being the only driver on the grid to win back-to-back championships, he understands what needs to be done to cross the line as a winner.

Though Cassidy has yet to achieve a world title, he has established himself well within the fight for it. He has concluded seasons being the runner-up, and his consistency on the field has aided his previous teams in winning the Teams Championship.

Being a new team, the years of experience competing at the front of the grid from both these drivers is exactly what Citroën needs. Vergne and Cassidy are well versed in regulation changes, as they have experienced the all-electric race craft in different eras. The team needs a driver pairing that will adapt to the changes quickly to have a promising season, especially with the other drivers being well experienced in their cars.

When asked about the renewed commitment, Cassidy explained, ”I’m very happy to continue with the Citroën Racing Formula E Team for Season 13. I can’t wait to keep working with the whole team and unlock the full potential of the GEN4 once it hits the track.”

Vergne talks about his hopes for the GEN4 era; he explains, ”Developing a new generation of race cars is always a unique challenge for a driver. We still have plenty of work ahead of us, but I’m confident we’ll arrive at the start of Season 13 with strong foundations and be ready to fight from the very first race.”

A Tribute to Cyril

As the team looks ahead to the GEN4 Era, they will do it in memory of one who has helped them build the foundations. At the beginning of this month, new broke of the sudden passing of Team Principal Cyril Blais. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and anyone who had the privilege of working with him.
