There was plenty of action this past weekend as the NTT INDYCAR Series went racing through the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio was round 11 on the calendar and had a handful of notable moments. Some teams made history while other drivers on the grid added to their personal lists of accomplishments.
These are some of the highlights from the 2026 Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio.
Arrow McLaren Makes Team History
The biggest winner in more than one way last weekend was Arrow McLaren. Pato O’Ward took the lead of the race on Lap 42, which resulted in his first win of the 2026 season. He defended against his fellow Arrow McLaren teammate for the win. This brings O’Ward to a total of 10 race wins.
Right behind him in P2 was Christian Lundgaard who won the NTT P1 Award on Saturday. The pair’s race results marked the first 1-2 finish in Arrow McLaren’s team history.
Kyle Kirkwood Adds To His Podium Record
Kyle Kirkwod has been no stranger to finding success this year. With one win and a top 10 finish in nearly every race this season, Kirkwood has been on track to challenge Álex Palou for the Driver’s Championship. He’s currently second in the championship standings.
Kirkwood has five INDYCAR victories and a few podium finishes. He added to his record with his first podium finish on a road course giving Andretti Global something to celebrate. This brings Kirkwood to a total of three podium finishes this season with each of them being on a different track style.
Biggest Mover Award
Another driver who had something to celebrate was Marcus Armstrong. Meyer Shank Racing recently announced that he would be re-signing with the team. In addition to the news, Armstrong was the recipient of the Biggest Mover award at Mid-Ohio.
He made up 10 places during the races to bring home a P14 finish. This year, Armstrong has five top ten finishes. This is his second year with MSR and he’ll be continuing to race with them under a multiyear contract as the pilot of the No. 60 Honda.
A Caution Free Race
In a rare turn of events, this year’s race at Mid-Ohio was completed without a single yellow flag being waved for the duration of all 90 laps. A caution-free race isn’t extremely common within INDYCAR. Between 1994 and 2024 there was only two races that ran without a full course caution. Since then there’s been a slight increase in caution-free races thanks to two things including the hybrid engine system and longer race formats.
The next race on the schedule will take place on July 19 2026. The drivers will be heading to Nashville to take on the Nashville Superspeedway in the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix.
