Freddie Slater was the fastest driver on track during the Silverstone F3 Practice session. The Audi driver has a lot of experience at the home of the British Grand Prix and will be looking to secure his maiden victory this weekend.
The Start of F3 Practice
The drivers emerged onto the track slowly, in order to prevent traffic. It was Ferrari Academy’s Tuukka Taponen who set the fastest lap initially with a time of over two minutes.
However when he started pushing, it was clear that he had pace in the F3 Practice session, setting a time of 1:47.652.
More drivers began to set notable times, such as Jin Nakamura, who set a time of 1:47.337.
Ernesto Rivera was the first driver to set a time in the 1:60’s. However, Freddie Slater beat him by 0.579s with a time of 1:46.161.
Late Drama
With ten minutes left in the session, Taponen was forced to the pit lane due to an issue which saw his battery smoking. The Finnish driver did not return to the track.
A Virtual Safety Car, which was planned, signalled five minutes left in the session.
F3 is back on track later today at 3pm (2pm local time) for qualifying.
