Earlier this year, Andretti Formula E Team confirmed that Season 9 World Champion, Jake Dennis, had committed to the team with a multi-year extension. Now, as the season nears the end, their line-up for the new GEN4 era has been confirmed. Rookie driver, Felipe Drugovich will also remain with the team and they will face the new challenges together.
The Road To Formula E
Prior to his time in Formula E, Drugovich was a rising star in the Formula 1 ladder. Winning both the Euroformula Open Championship and Spanish F3 in his maiden year in single-seaters, the Brazilian was one to watch from an early age. After winning the 2022 Formula 2 championship, he joined Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team as their test, development, and reserve driver.
The 2022-23 Formula E season saw Drugovich have his first experience in the series. He took part in the Berlin and Rome rookie tests for Maserati MSG Racing. He topped both sessions and showed a sign of what he could achieve. Last year, he replaced Nyck De Vries for the 2025 Berlin E-Prix at Mahindra Racing. The first race was tough, with a drive-through penalty seeing him fall to 17th. However, the second race saw him finish seventh, taking points in his debut weekend.
Achieving points on his debut in the series was a sign. Drugovich was fast, clean, and someone to watch out for. As a result, teams were looking at him for a seat in the 2025-26 season. The honour of having him went to Andretti Formula E Team, who signed him to pair with champion Jake Dennis.
A Promising Rookie
So far, Drugovich’s rookie year has been a promising one. Bad luck followed him in the early rounds as he was settling in. However, recent rounds have seen him find his form. As they head to Shanghai, Drugovich is the only driver on the grid to have finished in the top 10 in the last four races.
His time with the team so far has proven his speed, technical knowledge, and adaptability as he learns the series. Progressing each race, he is showing that he will become a driver to be reckoned with as he grows. The second round in Monaco also saw him achieve a maiden podium, finishing second.
Committing To The Team
With an upward growth proving his skill, Andretti and Drugovich are committing to the pairing. He remains by Dennis’ side as the series enters a brand new era. As well as a new car, the 2026-27 season also sees the longest calendar yet: 21 races. Andretti will be hoping that having two proven talents in their cars will help them adjust to the GEN4 cars quickly.
“When we brought Felipe into the team, we centered our relationship as a long-term commitment from both sides with him playing an important part in our future. He’s shown strong speed, great professionalism and has already achieved his first podium in his rookie season, demonstrating his capability of integrating quickly into the team.”
~ Andretti’s Team Principal, Roger Griffiths, praised Drugovich in the announcement.
Drugovich himself is looking forward to continuing with the team. Upon the announcement, he shared that: “From the moment I joined the team, the goal was always to build something that could carry into the future and I’m excited to be part of the team as we enter the GEN4 era.” Remaining with the team will give the rookie driver more chances to develop and grow, as well as solidify the relationship.
With their line-up for the start of the new era complete, Andretti will be looking to have a solid end to the season. Continuing the positive momentum and building the results will aid help them get the ball rolling for Season 13. Sticking with Drugovich shows their commitment to his development, and they’ll both be hoping that the partnership becomes as fruitful as the one with Dennis.
