Raúl Fernández continued his rich vein of form by securing his second MotoGP Sprint victory of the season at Assen, leading teammate Ai Ogura in a memorable one-two for the Trackhouse MotoGP Team. Fabio Di Giannantonio denied Aprilia a clean sweep of the podium in third as Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martín rounded off the top five.

Fernández Takes Control After Frantic Opening Laps

The Sprint began with immediate drama as Joan Mir crashed out at Turn 4 on the opening lap, while Pedro Acosta’s race unravelled after a mistake at Turn 7 dropped him to 15th.

Up front, the order continued to evolve. Di Giannantonio moved past Ogura for third at Turn 16, just as Fernández took the lead from Martín ahead of them. Di Giannantonio’s charge continued on the following lap when he moved into second.

Ogura Seals Trackhouse One-Two

Martín’s tumble down the order continued as Ogura overtook him to claim third before setting his sights on Di Giannantonio. The rookie eventually made his move at Turn 16 in the second half, securing second place and completing a memorable afternoon for the Trackhouse team. Meanwhile, Bezzecchi capitalised when Martín ran wide, moving into fourth.

Acosta Recovers While A Subdued Ducati Lenovo Team Salvages Points

While the fight for the podium played out at the front, Acosta recovered after running wide at Turn 7 on the opening lap and dropping to 15th. The KTM rider methodically worked his way back through the field to finish ninth and salvage valuable points.

The factory Ducati duo, meanwhile, continued to endure a subdued afternoon. Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Márquez never looked in contention for the podium and ultimately crossed the line sixth and seventh respectively.

Which Aprilia Will Complete the Job Tomorrow?

Saturday’s Sprint felt like a changing of the guard within Aprilia’s own ranks. While Aprilia Racing arrived at Assen with genuine expectations after locking out the front row in qualifying, it was the satellite Trackhouse MotoGP Team that stole the spotlight.

As Sunday’s Dutch GP demands tyre conservation, race management and consistency over twice the distance, today’s Sprint results offer no guarantees for tomorrow. The question now is whether the Trackhouse Aprilias can once again outshine the factory Aprilia squad over a full Grand Prix distance.

Equally intriguing is whether the Ducati Lenovo Team can recover from its subdued Sprint and enter the melee at the front.
