Marco Bezzecchi topped the opening MotoGP session at the Dutch Grand Prix with a 1:32.311 in Free Practice 1. The Aprilia Racing rider looked particularly strong around TT Assen, although Francesco Bagnaia also appeared comfortable and consistently quick throughout the session.

Early Pace-Setting Battle

Free Practice 1 began, and riders started setting representative lap times, generating a lot of movement at the top of the timesheet. Marc Marquéz led the group momentarily with a 1:32.757, ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio by less than a tenth.

However, Marco Bezzecchi and Di Giannantonio responded quickly and matched the Ducati rider’s pace, both improving the initial benchmark. Just 10 minutes into the session, several riders went back into boxes, ending their first run of the session.

However, Francesco Bagnaia opted to stay out and set his first timed lap, moving up to fourteenth. Bagnaia kept improving lap after lap and finished his first run in second, just half a tenth behind Di Giannantonio.

Bezzecchi Takes Control

With 25 minutes remaining of Free Practice 1, several riders went out for their Run 2. At this point in the session, the timesheet settled without any major improvements.

The Aprilia duo were the first to set the first representative laps from the second run, with Jorge Martín and Marco Bezzecchi topping the timesheet. Meanwhile, Márquez went into the gravel during his fast lap at the final chicane, deploying a yellow flag.

At the top, Bezzecchi beat Martín’s fastest lap and put himself at the top of the timesheet with a 1:32.311. With 10 minutes remaining, riders returned to the boxes as there were no major improvements.

As Free Practice 1 of the MotoGP Dutch Grand Prix, Marco Bezzecchi stood the fastest on track, followed by Bagnaia and Martín. Di Giannantonio was in fourth, then Ai Ogura, and Raúl Fernández. Marc Márquez finished the session in tenth.
