Marc Márquez claimed victory at the MotoGP Czechia Grand Prix ahead of Ai Ogura and Francesco Bagnaia, while championship leader Marco Bezzecchi was suspended following Saturday’s incident.

An Intense Opening Stint

Ai Ogura, starting on pole for the first time in his MotoGP career, had a great launch and kept the lead. However, Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Márquez quickly made their way to the podium positions, fighting each other for second. In the end, Bagnaia kept his position ahead of Márquez and quickly attacked Ogura.

Ogura held himself against Bagnaia; however, the Ducati rider made his move to stick and became the new leader. At the same time, Fabio Quartararo crashed and ended his race prematurely. Further back, Jorge Martín was slowly making up positions, sitting in seventh, with a two-long-lap penalty to serve.

On Lap 5, Martín served his penalty and reemerged in 13th position. At the front, Bagnaia kept setting fastest laps and a comfortable lead ahead of Márquez in second. From that point onwards, the grid stabilised.

Gambling at the Czech MotoGP Grand Prix

As the Czech MotoGP Grand Prix reached the halfway point, the gap between the leaders reduced in a couple of laps as tyres started to suffer. As Márquez got closer to Bagnaia, Ogura also closed the gap to the Ducati.

Despite closing the gap, Márquez struggled to find a moment to make his move. However, due to the tyre pressure, riders needed to give themselves breathing room. With seven laps to go, Márquez gave it a go. With an impressive showcase of braking skills, Bagnaia kept him behind.

Márquez finally made the move stick and took the lead with five laps to go. Immediately, Márquez pulled a gap on his teammate, as Ogura caught up to Bagnaia. A couple of laps later, Ogura moved past Bagnaia, too.

Marc Márquez crossed the chequered flag ahead. Further back, Martín finished in 11th, closing the gap in the championship standings to 10 points. Meanwhile, another heartbreaking end for Pedro Acosta, as he had a mechanical failure on the last lap of the Grand Prix.
