Noel León started the Formula Two Sprint Race from pole however it was Kush Maini who was able to secure an early lead and gradually built up a gap to second position. The ART GP driver was able to charge away from the rest of the field.

The Start of the Race

On Lap 1, an early yellow flag was thrown as Joshua Dürksen went off track and into the gravel.

However, the yellow flag certainly did not discourage Nikola Tsolov who was charging through the field.

On Lap 5, Martinius Stenshorne received a 10 second time penalty due to causing a collision with Dürksen.

Gabriele Minì and León battled for the podium positions and further down the field it was Rafael Villagómez and Rafael Câmara who were fighting for points.

Later on, on Lap 16, Villagómez got a 5 second time penalty for track limits and just two laps later, it was Roman Bilinski who suffered the same fate.

Lap 19 saw a thrilling battle between Nicolás Varrone and Tasanpol Inthraphuvasak.

However, the day went from bad to worse for Bilinksi who was handed a second 5 second penalty for track limits infringements.

The Final Laps

The closing stages of the F2 Sprint Race saw several battles begin to heat up. Tsolov and Gabriele Minì were close but eventually it was the Italian driver who was able to move up to second place.

As the duo were fighting, Colton Herta was able to close in and looked set to claim his maiden F2 podium after overtaking Tsolov.

On Lap 26, the battle between Herta and Minì was gaining intensity. However disaster struck when Herta went wide and dropped down to first position.

León, Tsolov and Câmara were all battling for the podium and benefited from Herta’s mistakes.

However, it was Kush Maini who crossed the line to win the Barcelona F2 Sprint Race. He was accompanied on the podium by Minì and Tsolov.
