Ahead of the Monaco E-Prix, The Girls Who – Motorsport spoke with Oliver Rowland about his goals for the weekend. Currently sitting 4th in the Drivers’ Championship, a double header played well could shift Rowland’s championship and possibly mirror his victory last season.

Confidence in His Car

Coming off a weekend in Berlin where Rowland celebrated two podium finishes, he explains how that wasn’t his main goal. Despite being great for the championship, his priority was to ”improve on (his) confidence in the car over one lap as ‘Qualifying is going to be quite important here.” Rowland was optimistic that this was something he had achieved. With that, he can keep the momentum moving with the team, as during the races, he believes that ”they always execute it quite well.”

The Pit Boost Is Back

The Brit believes that qualifying is important on both days but places emphasis on how crucial it is to get it ‘‘right during Race 1.” With the return of Pit Boost, Saturday’s race requires a better finish in Quali. Despite the resurgence in energy during the stop, it doesn’t erase the advantages of track positions. Drivers starting at the front of the grid, who get the Pit Boost timing right, will have clean air and use their energy less. Rowland hopes to be in this pack.

Such a narrow track forces drivers to have courage to make bold moves. Rowland celebrates this, explaining that on such a track like Monaco, You risk a lot; you get a big reward. He jokingly confesses that he would like to achieve ”100 overtakes.”
