3–5 minutes

After a 22-year hiatus, the Brazilian GP returned in style, with both Aprilia Racing riders taking first and second on the podium. Marco Bezzecchi took the lead from polesitter Fabio Di Giannantonio from the first corner, while Jorge Martín was given more to celebrate in second. It was his first podium finish with Aprilia since joining the team last year. Bezzecchi is now the first Aprilia rider to lead the championship since Aleix Espagaró in 2022. Read on for the 2026 MotoGP Brazil race results at Goiânia below.

Race Shortened Before Getting Off the Line

After the delays that plagued qualifying and the Tissot Sprint on the Saturday, Brazil turned on the party and the sunshine in the minutes leading up to the race. In front of a record 148,384-strong crowd at the Goiânia circuit, riders were lined up on the grid when the news broke of a changed race distance. With five minutes until the start, the MotoGP race was reduced from 31 to 23 laps due to track degradation. No surprise given the rising surface and ambient temperature.

With no time to change tyre choice, it was lights out as we went racing in Brazil. It was a brilliant launch from Bezzecchi, immediately taking the lead from Di Giannantonio, while Fabio Quatararo went backwards down into tenth.

On his 200th race start, it was not the day that Jack Miller would have wanted to celebrate. The Australian crashed out after only a lap and a half. Meanwhile, the battle was heating up between Marc Márquez and Di Giannantonio after the latter made another mistake. But Martín, seeing the fight ahead, took the opportunity to pass both to come up to second place.

Midway Pressures Lead to Crashes and Lack of Performance

While it was a monumental effort from Pedro Acosta to keep up with the front pack, it was all bad news for the rest of the KTM riders. His teammate, Brad Binder, was out before completing Lap 5, and the two Red Bull KTM Tech3 riders, Enea Bastianini and Maverick Viñales, remained at the bottom of the board.

It raised the question: what happened to the impressive performance KTM showcased in testing and at the Thai GP? However, they were not the only team to fall off the pace. After an awful start off the line, Quartararo continued to tumble down the order. His teammate, Álex Rins, became the best-finishing Yamaha rider in 14th on the Goiânia circuit.

While Ducati did bring the fight to Aprilia throughout the race, Francesco Bagnaia’s race ended early. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider came down at Turn 1 in a fast slide off the circuit. That leaves the #63 with only ten points in the 2026 MotoGP World Championship.

A short time later, Joan Mir crashed at Turn 4, finishing the weekend with a double DNF. With four riders out of the race, the pressure was on for the rest of the grid to remain on track until the checkered flag.

Aprilia Maintain Strong Lead to the End

With both Bezzecchi and Martín pulling further away in first and second, the fight for third was ongoing. Di Giannantonio had taken the position back from M.Márquez, but the threat behind him was imminent. Nearly three and a half seconds behind this battle, Álex Márquez was fending off Ai Ogura for fifth. The Trackhouse MotoGP rider had already put in an impressive move to overtake Acosta earlier on.

Five laps remaining, and M.Márquez attacked on the inside line to come ahead of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team rider. But it was short-lived as Di Giannantonio came back at the reigning champion. M.Márquez continued to lose ground. Considering the strain on his right shoulder and the disappointing end in Thailand, M.Márquez conceded to finish in fourth. But there was nothing to stop the two Aprilia riders at the front, finishing in first and second.

Looking to COTA

In the first back-to-back race weekend of the 2026 MotoGP season, Aprilia have another chance to extend its lead in all championship standings. For the other teams, there’s little time for them to figure out what went wrong and regroup. Is it enough to light a fire underneath Ducati to take back control? All will be revealed in another action-packed race weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in seven days. Americas in seven days.
