Driver Academy Deep Dive: Williams

All Formula 1 teams have an academy to form the future of the sport and Atlassian Williams F1 Team is no exception. From helping to shape the future into becoming the new face of the team, here’s all the academy drivers.

The Williams Racing Driver Academy was created in 2016. As all academies, the purpose of it is to form and promote drivers in all championships by helping them financially. Famous drivers went into that academy such as Lance Stroll, Nicholas Latifi, Jack Aitken, Logan Sargeant and Franco Colapinto.

The most notable alumni

From Super Formula to Formula Regional European Championship (FRECA), the Atlassian Williams F1 Team has a good number of pupils in their academy to secure their future.

Luke Browning

The British driver, currently competing in Super Formula with Team Kondo Racing joined the academy in 2023. He is also Williams F1 Team’s reserve driver. The 24-years old used to compete in Formula 2 last year with Hitech TGR where he won one race. In a heated battle, he finished fourth in the championship.

Alessandro Giusti

The Formula 3 driver joined the academy in 2024. He is racing in F3 for the second season, still with MP Motorsport. The French driver who won his local Formula 4 championship in 2022 will look to take the title home, even though he had a rough start of the season with still no point in the bag after the first two races.

Jade Jacquet

First gaining attention during the 2024 French Junior Karting Championship, Jade Jacquet has had an impressive start to her early racing career. She also claimed the Female Trophy at the Dijon-Prenois circuit, which recognised her as one of the highest-achieving female drivers in the championship.  The French driver, currently racing in F1 Academy with ART Grand Prix, joined the academy at the end of 2025.

Kean Nakamura-Berta

Previously in the Alpine academy from 2022 to 2024, Kean Nakamura-Berta joined Williams in early 2026. In his first full year in single-seaters, Kean took second overall in the 2024 Formula 4 UAE Championship. Since then, he was crowned champion in Italian Formula 4 and E4 in 2025. The British and Japanese driver is definitely someone to keep an eye on.

Lower categories like karting, are also supported by the Atlassian Williams F1 Team. Discover the possibly future name of tomorrow.

Dean Hoogendoorn

The Dutch driver has been named champion of the 2025 FIA Karting European Championship in the OK-J class, with a 33-point lead. He joined the academy in 2024. He is still competing in karting, where he currently sits third in the standing.

Lucas Palacio

The 12-years old driver entered the Mini Swift series in 2022 on an age waiver, achieving multiple podiums and wins despite being younger than his competitors. He went on to win the championship the following year, as well as the USPKS Mini Swift, Star Championship Series Swift Stars, and SKUSA Pro Tour Mini Swift. In 2026, he will continue to race in OKJ-N with the support of the Williams F1 Team Driver Academy that he joined in late 2024.

Oleksandr Bondarev

The Ukrainian driver has had very impressive results during his karting days, taking a championship title almost every year. He began his first single seater season in 2025 with Prema in Italian Formula 4, where he built in confidence throughout the year, securing a win in Imola and a podium in Misano. The 16-years old remains in Italian F4 for 2026 and will try to take the title home.

Will Green

As a rising star of the British karting scene, the British driver has already found success at both the national and international level. He became the IAME Mini World Final Champion in 2023 and the IAME Mini European Champion in 2024. In 2025, he raced in the OKJ category and secured three podiums across the year while competing in the WSK Super Master Series, Champions of The Future, and WSK – Final Cup series. He was announced as a Williams F1 Team Academy Driver in December 2024 to support his climb up the motorsport ladder. This year, he is still competing in WSK Super Master Series.
