The Madrid E-Prix is right around the corner, and the weekend will be accompanied by a Rookie Test. Andretti are the final team to confirm their driver line-up for the session, with Freddie Slater and Callum Voisin. Here’s the rundown of the announcement.

The Youngest Face on the Grid

At only 17 years old, Freddie Slater becomes the youngest driver to participate in the rookie test sessions. Despite his age, his career so far is extensive. The Brit currently competes in FIA Formula 3, but his experience before this shows he’s already a star in the making.

From a young age, Slater has competed in various single-seater categories. His career highlight was his stint in Italian Formula 4, where he shattered records. Slater achieved 15 race wins across 20 races, urging his rise through the ranks. For this Formula E test, it will be Andretti’s and Slater’s first partnership together, but the team sees a great amount of talent and potential in him.

Back for the Second Time

Alongside Slater this weekend will be Callum Voisin, who comes to Madrid the more experienced of the two. In 2025, Voisin took part in the Rookie Test in Berlin with another team, Cupra Kiro, so this too will be a new partnership for him and Andretti. His session was successful, and he gained a lot of valued insight into Formula E, insight that Andretti will now benefit from.

Much like Slater, Voisin too has had an impressive competitive career, winning the GB3 championship in 2022, which was only his second year of racing in the single-seater category. Once the Brit graduated to Formula 3, his success didn’t slow down, achieving a Grand Slam during the Belgium Grand Prix. His time in F3 gained him a great amount of success, including multiple podiums.

Voisin and Andretti are excited to put his pervious success from last season’s test on the track.

“I had a positive test last year at the Berlin Rookie Test, so I can’t wait to build on what’s been a fun and different experience to what I’m used to” – Voisin ahead of his first experience with Andretti

Andretti Continue to Prioritise Young Talent

Team Principal Roger Griffiths feels optimistic about the teams work with Slater and Voisin, emphasising the importance of rookie sessions for Andretti – “Ultimately, this lineup reflects our wider commitment to developing future talent and showcasing Formula E to young drivers. Giving them early exposure to the challenges and complexities of the Championship allows them to properly understand what Formula E offers.

He hopes that having these sessions will encourage young and upcoming talent to consider a career in Formula E, rather than seeing Formula 1 as the only goal.

With this announcement, 20/20 drivers are now confirmed for the Rookie Test Session. For the first time, Madrid will not only say hello to Formula E, but will also welcome the young drivers for what should be a great test session.
