Manuel González wins a hectic Moto2 Thailand Grand Prix after two red flags. Title favourite, González took the win away from Izan Guevera, with Daniel Holgado coming in third.
The race started with Daniel Holgardo having an electric start going from fourth to first. The top five all stayed close to each other, ready to capitalise on mistakes.
Red Flag after Red Flag
On the fourth lap of the race, Senna Agius’ bike cut out, which caused David Alonso to run into the back of him. Filip Salač also went down in the incident. The race was red-flagged afterwards. Both Agius and Salač restarted the race, but Alonso was taken to the medical centre with pain in his arm and leg. It has since been confirmed that he has no fractures.
The second restart commenced, and three corners in, we had another crash between Sergio García and Luca Lunetta, which brought out the second red flag. García has no fractures, but he is receiving treatment for an infection on his finger. Lunetta is reported to be having surgery on his foot.
The Sprint Restart
Time was tight to get MotoGP underway, so they ran a seven-lap race. This time, Guevara got the best start with González applying the pressure.
The game of cat and mouse ended with González on top after a move on the penultimate lap. Will he be able to take the championship home this year after being so close last year?
