The 2026 season is not far away and most of the teams in Formula 3 and Formula 2 already have their eyes on it. DAMS Lucas Oil is no exception, with some surprises in their line-ups.
Being one of the oldest teams on the grid, DAMS Lucas Oil decided to bet on the future for Formula 2. Concerning Formula 3, it might be trickier with drivers that are known for the wrong reasons and new faces. Money is certainly a factor and they’ll have to work hard this year to erase that “paid seat” image.
A not so competitive line-up
With two experienced drivers that are not unanimously liked and have a big lack of results, the third one might be left to improve on his own. DAMS Lucas Oil might have more damage than results in Formula 3.

Gerrard Xie
Already competing in Formula 3 last year, the Chinese driver finished 29th in the standings with Hitech TGR. He had a very difficult season, leading him to bring a single point. Nevertheless, he has had great results in the past, notably in Asia. He was crowned champion in Chinese F4 and finished seventh in GB3. If last year was probably more about learning how to use the car, he needs to step up more to be able to reach higher in the ladder.

Nicola Lacorte
The most controversial driver is probably the Italian. Judged as dangerous on track by many, he even took so many penalty points last year that he got a race ban. And his results didn’t help him either. He had four DNFs, scored 0 points and finished 33rd in the standings. It was not better in FRECA in 2024 having only three points. He will have to prove his worth to the team again, to the public and probably to Alpine.

Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi
The 19-years old Thai driver will make his debut into the category this season. Previously in FRECA, he had a rough first year in 2024. He finished 26th in the standings with no points scored, 12th being his best result. 2025 saw some improvement as he finished 16th in the standings, scoring 24 points. He will probably have to rely more on his experience in other categories and to his team to discover his potential in F3.
Promising talent
In Formula 2, DAMS Lucas Oil has two really interesting profiles. The experienced driver, who should really deliver this year, might even have his spotlight stolen by the new Polish face of the feeder series.

Dino Beganovic
Second season for the Ferrari Academy golden boy, and this time he is back with the team he first made stepped into the category. Last year was a rather good season for the Swedish. He ended it with a pole position, one win and 116 points. He finished seventh in the standing. It’s safe to say that he might be one of the drivers who could claim the title this year. However, he still needs to find consistency regarding qualification and his starts. If he can maximize his potential, there is no doubt we will see him often fight at the front.

Roman Bilinski
The new addition to the DAMS Lucas Oil team is a driver we should definitely keep an eye on. Even though he hadn’t really had the results before last year to back him off, the Polish driver now has three podiums and one win in Formula 3 rookie season to do so. He showed great speed, especially in the races and finished eleventh in the standing, with 65 points. With an experienced teammate and some guidance from his team, he can definitely be around the top 5 drivers at the end of the season.
In conclusion, DAMS Lucas Oil found themselves in a complicated situation in Formula 3, with three drivers that, on paper, don’t make people dream. However, it’s totally the opposite in Formula 2, where they managed to gather two really good drivers. The adaptation to both categories and the team work will be crucial if they want to take at least one title in 2026.
