Formula E heads into its Round 2 of Season 12, which will take place in Mexico City from January 9 to January 10. With just one race into the season, and the championship still in the making, Mexico promises to be an interesting race. Here’s a quick preview of the weekend ahead.
Track Guide
Formula E has been racing in Mexico City since Season 2 and hosts the second event of the season. The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is one of the most iconic venues, bringing electrifying entertainment and a spectacle that transforms the city into a stage. Located 2,250 meters above sea level, the circuit is 2.63 kilometers in length and features a total of 15 turns, mixing long and fast straights with a technical infield section.
The track weaves right through the old football stadium, known as the Foro Sol Stadium section, a tight, twisty, and high-energy section. If you are looking for slingshot overtakes and where Attack Mode could shake up the race, that’s the long back straight: a mix of speed, hitting up to 280 km/h, and strategy.
Weather rarely steals the show, but when it does, it amplifies strategy, energy management, and mistakes. While wet conditions are uncommon, Mexico’s altitude, temperature variations, and the wind can significantly influence the race.
Championship Overview
After the first race, Jake Dennis arrives in Mexico City as the championship leader. Dennis claimed victory in Sao Paulo, followed by the reigning champion, Oliver Rowland. Meanwhile, Joel Eriksson had a remarkable first performance in his first full season, finishing seventh.
After the opening round, the Porsche Formula E Team is showing strong consistency and a reliable setup. With both drivers scoring points, they matched Andretti’s 25 points despite the latter relying solely on a single driver’s result.

Will Oliver Rowland step in and repeat a back-to-back win in Mexico? Will Porsche’s consistency give them an early-season advantage?
Tune in on January 9-10 and find out.
