Everyone could tell the riders were focused during that last Free Practice 2 of the 2025 season. Preparing for qualifying or for the race, every one of them had a different strategy.
All riders went out to make a time at the beginning of the session. Marco Bezzecchi, on a soft and medium tyre, set the first fastest time on 1:30.576. His friend and rival Francesco Bagnaia followed hm closely on the timesheet. Only the two of them are on the 1:30 benchmark. The rider number 72 kept improving, as his second lap was faster on a 1:30.246, while Aleix Espargaró took second place. After his moto issues yesterday, Fabio Quartararo still struggled a bit on his Yamaha, only taking the thirteenth time.
Different strategy of the session
With 16 minutes remaining on the clock for that Free Practice 2, only drivers that went out with fresh tyres were still on track. The others were them, in the pit. On his quick lap, Fabio Quartararo made a mistake in sector 2, resulting in him being frustrated as he had to abort his lap. Four minutes later, riders went back on track, with Augusto Fernández leading the pack. On his second run, Pedro Acosta improved his time. He took third place with a 1:30.328 on an old rear medium tyre. This indicated that he might have tested long runs for the race.
Francesco Bagnaia also improved, coming really close to the 1:29 time, as Marco Bezzecchi began his second run. A gap could be seen between the top three as they were relatively close to each other with Franco Morbidelli only 0.190 behind Bagnaia, while Acosta in four was 0.332 behind. With three minutes on the clock, a yellow flag was waved on sector 2. Pedro Acosta had a small crash while pushing but nothing serious. Bezzecchi improved his time but surprisingly it was Ai Ogura who took the final flying lap time on a 1:29.897. Only him and the Italian Ducati driver went under the 1:30 time.
