Joining Alice Powell, Ella Lloyd is returning to Formula E. This time around with Envision Racing for the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E All-Women’s Test. Lloyd is set to make her mark on the timesheets around Circuit Ricardo Tormo on 31 October.
Who Is Ella Lloyd?
Born into a family with an athletic pedigree, Lloyd began as a Welsh skiing champion before transitioning into motorsport. Although she did not take the traditional route, starting karting later than many of her peers, she has proven herself a force to be reckoned with.
Her talents were recognised at 19 years old when she raced competitively in the Ginetta Junior Championship. Scoring points in most of her races, she quickly established her presence in the paddock. She later stepped up into the Ginetta GT5 Challenge, securing crucial wins to take P2 in the championship standings.
Her racing experience continued to grow in 2024 when she made her F1 Academy debut at the Marina Bay Circuit in Singapore, scoring points in both races. Her impressive performance caught the eye of McLaren one of the most competitive teams on the grid, leading to her recruitment into their Driver Development Programme. She is currently competing in F1 Academy alongside Formula E testing duties, sitting third in the championship standings.
Speed. Consistency. Confidence. These traits continue to drive Lloyd as she chases her ambition of becoming a world champion. Although Doriane Pin and Maya Weug are currently locked in a tight battle for the F1 Academy crown, Lloyd has strong fan support and no shortage of determination.
Lloyd Extends Her Partnership with Formula E
Having participated in both the All-Women’s Test and the Rookies’ Test in Berlin in 2024, Lloyd is no stranger to the Gen3 car. Her familiarity gives her an advantage, allowing her to focus less on adaptation and more on extracting crucial data for her engineers.
When asked about her return, Envision Racing managing director Sylvain Filippi said,
”We are very happy to welcome Ella to the team in Valencia. We have watched her progress during the previous tests and been impressed with her speed and talent. We’re looking forward to working with her.”
Envision’s involvement in the All-Women’s Test aligns with Formula E’s ongoing push for greater inclusivity in motorsport. Lloyd’s progression serves as a reminder that there is no single path to the top.
The All-Women’s Test will take place on 31 October at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. There Lloyd will be one to watch when she steps back into the car.
