Jaguar TCS Racing has confirmed that former series champion Stoffel Vandoorne will join the team as Reserve Driver for Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. He will share duties with long-serving simulator and reserve driver Tom Dillmann, who remains with the British team for a sixth season.
A World Champion Joins a Title Contender
Vandoorne, the 2022 Drivers’ World Champion, joins Jaguar after spending a single season with Maserati MSG Racing. His 2024/25 campaign was highlighted by a dramatic victory in Tokyo, which was Maserati’s only win of the GEN3 Evo era. He brings a CV that includes more than 100 race starts, four race wins, eight pole positions, and 17 podiums.
The Belgian’s Formula E career began with HWA Racelab in Season 5. He then enjoyed a three-year stint with Mercedes-EQ, culminating in his Drivers’ World Championship. Two further seasons with DS PENSKE preceded his move to Maserati.
Vandoorne was first left without a full-time seat for 2025/26, despite promising fans to be on the grid in Season 12. He now secures an important opportunity with one of the championship’s top teams.
Vandoorne said, “I’m thrilled to be joining Jaguar TCS Racing as reserve driver for the upcoming season.” He added, “It’s a team I’ve long admired for its performance and professionalism.” He continued, “I’m excited to contribute to their continued success. I’m looking forward to supporting the team both on and off the track and helping push the Jaguar I-TYPE 7 to its full potential.”
Dillmann Remains a Trusted Asset
Tom Dillmann will continue as a vital part of Jaguar’s technical development and simulator programme. He has been a key figure in the team for six seasons and will support drivers Mitch Evans and António Félix da Costa throughout the season.
Dillmann said, “It’s a real pleasure to be continuing with Jaguar TCS Racing for my sixth season.” He added, “Over the years, I’ve seen the team grow into a true championship contender, and I’m proud to have played a part in that journey.” He concluded, “There’s a great energy heading into this season, and I’m looking forward to what we can achieve together.”
Jaguar Building for the GEN4 Future
Jaguar enters its tenth Formula E season on the back of its most successful campaign to date. The team achieved six wins in 2024/25, including five victories in the final six races. It finished as runner-up in both the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ Championships. Jaguar’s all-time Formula E record now stands at 22 wins, 31 podiums, and 1,638 points.
The Jaguar I-TYPE 7 will remain unchanged for the 2025/26 season. Both Vandoorne and Dillmann will play a pivotal role in developing the team’s GEN4 contender for 2026/27.

The runner-up world champion team enters Season 12 with momentum, stability, and championship-level ambition. Vandoorne’s arrival will strengthen the team and help prepare well for both the current GEN3 Evo campaign and the transition to GEN4 technology in the future.
