CUPRA KIRO has completed its 2026 Formula E lineup with the return of Dan Ticktum and the arrival of rookie Pepe Martí.
Goodbye to Our German
Fans saw CUPRA KIRO pay a lovely tribute to David Beckmann, whose rookie season had highs and lows. At first, Beckmann struggled to adapt to Formula E’s demanding racecraft, but through his work with his engineers, his persistence paid off. He secured his first point with a P10 finish at the 2025 Marvel Fantastic Four London E-Prix.
For a team like CUPRA KIRO, small victories like this show that their car is aligning with their development goals. In the upcoming season, CUPRA KIRO will be eager to fill their seat with someone as determined as David.
The Brit Is Back
It’s official – Dan Ticktum will return to the team for another season, showcasing the mutual confidence they have in one another. The Sarinah Jakarta E-Prix proved to be their most defining moment when it rewarded the team with their maiden win under the CUPRA KIRO name. They will be eager to replicate their successes from last season, and when asked about his goals, Ticktum mentioned,
”My personal goal is a top five finish in the championship, but overall, I want to really enjoy the environment of the team.” – Dan Ticktum
This sets the team up for a strong start to the season. With the continuation of a driver who has seasons of experience in their car, they are in a good position to get the momentum moving from race one. It will be vital for them to capitalise on their achievements from Season 11. From starting at the back to occasionally racing at the front, it is noticeable that the vital feedback the team are providing Ticktum is being absorbed. Speaking on their decision to continue with Dan, Russell O’Hagan, Chief Operating Officer at CUPRA KIRO, explained:
”Continuing our relationship with Dan for Season 12 was the easiest decision we’ve had to make as a team.” – Russell O’Hagan.
Despite the competitive nature of Season 12, Ticktum and CUPRA KIRO will be hoping to achieve critical pole positions that can translate into race wins. Fans know CUPRA KIRO won’t be easily underestimated — they’ll challenge the front runners.
A Twist for the Team
Since Beckmann’s departure, fans have speculated about who would take the second seat. We finally have confirmation that Formula 2 talent, Pepe Martí, will step into the world of Formula E.
This begs the question – for a team on the rise, is signing a rookie the smartest move? Inevitably, there will be some uncertainties that will come from an inexperienced rookie. CUPRA KIRO must remain patient during his learning period, as understanding the management of his energy, new attack mode strategies and even the Gen3 car itself will take some time to get used to. Pre-season testing will give him seat time to become familiar with these new changes.
This is your reminder than pre-season testing starts on Monday 27th October!
