IndyCar is back on the 13th October. It’s their first team test ahead of the 2026 season and will also serve as driver evaluations. For some, it’s a chance to show teams they’ve got what it takes to be signed. For others, it’s to get some more mileage ahead of the upcoming season. 6 teams and 7 drivers will be participating and here’s who they are.

A. J. Foyt Enterprises: Caio Collet

Former Formula 3 driver Caio Collet will be testing on behalf of A. J. Foyt. Following David Malukas’ departure, this is an ideal opportunity for the young Brazilian to earn his place on the grid.

Collet is a young Brazilian who first entered the scene in the 2017-18 Formula 4 UAE Championship. Winning the French F4 Championship in 2018, he quickly showed promise to be an up-and-coming driver in Europe. From 2021 to 2023, he was in Formula 3 with MP Motorsport and Van Amersfoort, where he won three races and got 11 podiums.

Following 2023, he left Europe and headed to Indy NXT – the primary support series of IndyCar. Racing with HMD Motorsports, he quickly impressed, finishing in the top 10 on debut. He got his first podium in his fourth race at the Indianapolis Grand Prix. In his debut season, Collet finished 3rd in the standings, and in 2025 he continued to improve, finishing 2nd behind Dennis Hauger.

Andretti Global: Lochie Hughes

Lochie Hughes is an Australian driver who won the 2018 Motorsport Australia award for young driver of the year. Following a successful karting career, he raced with Team BRM in the Australian Formula 4 championship in 2018 and 2019 – finishing 5th and 2nd.

Whilst he took a brief break from racing due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in 2022 Hughes moved to America for the Formula 4 United States Championship and won on debut. He won the season with 6 wins, 2 poles and 10 podiums – showing his talent and speed. That year, he also made a brief debut in the USF2000 Championship.

Hughes would compete fully in the USF2000 in the 2023 and 2024 seasons before switching to Indy NXT in 2025. Competing with Andretti Global, he finished 3rd behind teammate Hauger and Collet. This test will help him develop with Andretti and potentially strengthen the bond with hopes for a feature seat.

Dale Coyne Racing: Dennis Hauger

Dennis Hauger will be testing for the team he’ll be racing with in 2026. This will be his first chance to show his talent and remind DCR of why they’ve signed him. As the 2025 Indy NXT champion, all eyes will be on him to see how he performs.

Hauger also came from Europe and was a Red Bull Junior from 2017 to 2023. He won his second year in Formula 3 with Prema Racing, winning 7 of the rounds, and then competed in Formula 2 with Prema Racing and MP Motorsports. In 2024, he exited Formula 2 early in order to move to America and prepare for Indy NXT.

In 2025 he raced for Andretti Global in the support series and immediately showed his promise. Winning his debut race and only finishing off the podium three times, he won the season in spectacular fashion. Next year, he will race with Dale Coyne Racing and will bring with him an Andretti technical partnership. Hauger will be able to get used to the car and the team in this test ahead of 2026.

ECR: Christian Rasmussen and Alexander Rossi

ECR will have two cars in this team test, featuring both their drivers. Christian Rasmussen and Alexander Rossi will be hoping to get some more mileage under their belts and help develop the car for 2026. Having a rocky yet positive 2025 campaign, the team will be looking to further strengthen their foundations to improve again next year.

Juncos Hollinger Racing: James Roe

Irish driver James Roe will be participating on behalf of Juncos Hollinger Racing. Starting racing much later than his peers at 15, he started in the Ginetta Junior Ireland series in 2014. He continued in this series in 2015, winning 5 races, before heading to the Formula 4 UAE Championship, where he finished 11th.

In 2018 he moved to America to continue his career, racing initially in the F2000 Championship and F3 America Championship. Winning a handful of races and ending on the podium multiple times, in 2021 he headed to Indy Pro 2000 – the 3rd series on the Road to Indy ladder.

In 2022 he advanced to Indy Lights (now Indy NXT) and has raced there since. Alongside that, he’s also raced in a handful of GT races in the Italian and International GT Championships. In 2025 he also made his IMSA debut. Whilst he doesn’t have the championship wins that other drivers may have, Roe can use this test to show teams that he’s got what it takes to be in IndyCar.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing: Mick Schumacher

Mick Schumacher rounds out the lineup for the team test, working alongside Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. Schumacher is yet another Formula graduate that is attempting the world of IndyCar.

Starting in the ADAC Formula 4 Championship, Schumacher showed great promise at a young age and quickly progressed to Italian Formula 4. Finishing 2nd, he went to the MRF Challenge Formula 2000 before jumping to Formula 3 with Prema. In 2018, he won the championship with 8 wins and continued with Prema into Formula 2.

He won the 2020 Formula 2 season ahead of current IndyCar drivers Callum Ilott and Marcus Armstrong and was announced as a Formula 1 driver for HAAS F1 Team in 2021. Since leaving HAAS after 2022, he has since been a reserve driver for Mercedes-AMG Petronas. Schumacher has also been a part of the Alpine Endurance Team in the World Endurance Championship hypercar class. Can this test help Schumacher return to single-seater racing?

With some spaces yet to be filled on the 2026 IndyCar grid, could it feature any of those participating in the team test? Being at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a chance for teams and drivers to prepare ahead of next season. Much is still to be determined in the off season; keep an eye out.
