ITV and Formula E have confirmed a new free-to-air broadcast deal. After all this will see the all-electric racing series remain on screens in the UK and Ireland until the end of the 2026/27 season. The extended partnership, announced today, builds on the deal first signed in December 2024. Finally this ensures coverage of Seasons 12 and 13 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

More Races on Free TV

Fans will be able to watch every race live on ITVX. A greater number than ever will also be airing on ITV4. Therefore each event will be followed by a highlights show on ITV4 the following week to round off the on-track race action. ITV will also play host to one of the sport’s most significant moments next year. They will also reveal the debut of the next-generation GEN4 car at the close of 2026, marking the end of the GEN3 Evo era.

Richard Botchway, Assistant Commissioner of ITV Sport, said the channel was “proud to continue our partnership” and promised, “We will continue to bring the very best action free-to-air across ITV4 and ITVX.”

Jonathan Salt, Vice President of Media at Formula E, described the deal as “fantastic news” for fans in Ireland and the UK. In his opinion this would ensure the thrill of the championship remains “free and accessible to the widest possible audience.”

Record-Breaking Season Ahead

Season 12 will begin on 6 December 2025 with racing on the streets of São Paulo. The season promises to be the biggest in the championship’s history. A record 18 races will be staged across 12 cities worldwide. This race number includes new events in Madrid and Miami, alongside returning favourites such as Berlin, Tokyo and Shanghai.

Monaco, the jewel in the crown of motorsport, will once again host back-to-back races on its iconic street circuit. Electric Racing will once again this season come to an end in London. The ExCeL arena is set to host a dramatic double-header in August 2026.

Sustainability continues to shape the Formula E calendar. One move has been to group races by continent. This is cutting freight miles and reduces CO₂ emissions. This is one way the Abb FIA Formula E World Championship is one of the most environmentally conscious ones.

What It Means for Fans

For UK and Irish audiences, the new agreement guarantees free access to live coverage of the sport’s largest-ever calendar. Viewers won’t miss the conclusion of the GEN3 Evo era or the highly anticipated arrival of the GEN4 car. With expanded coverage on ITV4 and full streaming on ITVX, the series stays widely available without subscription TV.

The on-air presenting line-up for ITV’s Formula E coverage will be announced in the coming months.
