Bezzecchi set the pace in the second practice session of the San Marino GP at Misano, finishing three tenths clear of Morbidelli. Mir missed out on the lively session with several yellow flags and crashes after his own one in the session yesterday. The team claimed he would miss the full day with continued neck pain and discomfort. Their focus is to be ready for the race on Sunday.
Early Benchmarks and First Incidents
The 25°C air and track temperatures made for ideal conditions as Acosta quickly laid down a benchmark lap of 1:31.855 on his KTM. Marc Márquez, usually among the early pace-setters, waited longer to join the track, while Mir sat out the session after his fall on Friday. His team confirmed it was a precautionary measure due to ongoing discomfort.
Just minutes into the session, yellow flags flew when Fernández went down in Sector 1. The contact was light, and both rider and bike escaped damage. Another interruption soon followed as Binder suffered yet another technical problem in Sector 2.
Márquez Brothers and Bezzecchi Battle
Ten minutes in, riders began their first pit stops. The Márquez brothers briefly exchanged fastest laps before Bezzecchi threw himself into the fight, topping the timesheets before returning to the pits. Unlike most riders, he appeared to run a slightly different program, staying out longer early on.
Martín then brought out another yellow in Sector 1 with a fall, while Acosta continued to shine in the middle sectors. However, he couldn’t stitch it together over a full lap and remained third at that stage.
More Crashes and Late Surges
With just under 15 minutes to go, Miller became the next rider to trigger yellow flags. He ended up wedged under the soft barriers in Sector 3 and required assistance from the marshals to get out.
As the final minutes ticked down, Bezzecchi reclaimed the top spot with a lap three tenths faster than Morbidelli, sealing the fastest time of FP2. Marini completed the session in third, while Acosta and Márquez brothers just missed out on the top three despite showing strong pace.
