The Catalan Grand Prix Sprint delivered high drama and heartbreak in equal measure, with Marc Márquez emerging victorious after a late twist of fate that saw his brother Alex Márquez crash out just two laps from the end.

The race began with Alex Márquez in control, steadily building a gap over the chasing pack. Behind him, an intense three-way battle for second unfolded between Marc Márquez, Fabio Quartararo, and Pedro Acosta. Marc eventually got the better of his rivals, overtaking Quartararo and setting off in pursuit of his brother.

Drama soon struck elsewhere in the field. Jorge Martín and Franco Morbidelli collided, ending both of their races. Moments later, Marco Bezzecchi was taken out in an incident with Fermín Aldeguer, leaving the Italian nursing an arm injury after being trapped under his bike.

With the chaos unfolding, Alex Márquez looked set for victory, maintaining over half a second of advantage at the front. But in a cruel twist, he lost control and crashed out with just two laps remaining, handing the lead, and ultimately the win, to his brother Marc.

Marc Márquez, cheered on by the home crowd, took the chequered flag for his 14th Tissot Sprint victory of the 2025 season. Quartararo secured second place, while Fabio Di Giannantonio, who impressed with a bold move on Acosta earlier in the race, completed the podium in third.

The result also sealed Ducati’s dominance in the Constructors’ Championship, with today’s result confirming their sixth consecutive title and seventh overall.
