As the championship is still on in Formula 2, Leonardo Fornaroli keeps creating a gap by taking another win under his belt. Sami Meguetounif had a great start, but Dino Beganovic kept the lead. Alexander Dunne already went up a place in the straight. Cian Shield went into the grass before the chicane but managed to go back on track.

Leonardo Fornaroli then overtook Sami Meguetounif for P2. Kush Maini tried to overtake Dunne by the outside, which didn’t pass as the Irishman didn’t leave a lot of space. He made one of his wheels into the grass, which made him spin. As the Dams driver stayed in the gravel, the safety car appeared.

Taking the Lead

The green flag was waved, and all drivers made a great start. Leonardo Fornaroli was a bit too optimistic and tried to overtake for P1 but locked his tyres into the first chicane. He had to give the position back, while Arvid Lindblad took the last spot on the podium from Sami Meguetounif. The French driver seemed to struggle a lot and kept losing track positions every lap. After the third attempt, the Invicta driver finally took the lead of the race away from the Hitech driver. Arvid Lindblad also took second place away from the Swedes.

Costly Mistakes

On lap 9, Alexander Dunne wanted to divebomb Sami Meguetounif, which was controlled, but pushed the Frenchman a bit too wide, making him cut the chicane and go into the Irishman’s car. Both of them could go back on track, but the number 22 car had to box to retire. With a complicated race, Victor Martins boxes to change his front wing and put on the super soft tyres to try and gather data for the race. Three drivers made a mistake into the first chicane on lap 14, with Josep Maria Martì, Oliver Goethe and Gabriele Minì all cutting or going straight to the escape road. The number 5 Red Bull Junior spun two times and went back on track in P16.

The Championship Fight

On lap 18, Max Esterson’s engine blew up, but he managed to park in a rather safe spot, creating only a virtual safety car. The green flag was waved once again, and Richard Verschoor managed to surprise Staněk at the restart, taking fifth place. Dino Beganovic took a 5-second penalty for a safety car infringement. This penalty gave the podium to Joshua Durksen and gave Richard Verschoor P4, which could be great for the championship in the future. Leonardo Fornaroli took the win, with Arvid Lindblad in second.
