Formula 1 returns for its first race from summer break at Circuit Zandvoort for the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix, while the championship battle heats up between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, all eyes will be on Max Verstappen as he goes racing on his home turf of Netherlands.
Track Overview
Circuit Zandvoort is nestled along the North Sea cost, 30 km west of Amsterdam. The track is 4.259 km long consisting of 72 laps.
The circuit blends old-school character with modern upgrades, featuring high-speed bends, dramatic elevation changes, and two steeply banked corners — Turn 3 and Turn 14.
Zandvoort made a return to the calendar in 2021 after a 36-year absence. Its narrow layout and limited overtaking zones make qualifying and pit strategy crucial, while unpredictable coastal winds and shifting grip levels often surprise drivers.
The Dutch GP extended their contract with Formula 1 by one year making 2026 the last time Zandvoort appears on the Formula 1 calendar for the time being.
F1 Academy Returns
F1 Academy heads back to Zandvoort’s for Round 5 of its 2025 season, running alongside the Formula 1 weekend from August 29 to 31.
The all-female single-seater series will feature two races, continuing its mission to spotlight rising talent in motorsport.
Dutch driver Esmee Kosterman joins as a wild-card entry for her home event, sporting a special TeamViewer livery that honors women’s innovation and leadership.
Doriane Pin leading the championship and contenders like Ella Lloyd and Maya Weug looking to shake up the standings.
Homecoming for Verstappen
Max Verstappen heads into the Dutch Grand Prix looking to bounce back after losing his winning streak at Zandvoort last year.
He won the race three times in a row from 2021 to 2023, but in 2024, Lando Norris took the victory, becoming the first driver to beat Verstappen at his home circuit since its return to the calendar.
This year, Verstappen arrives third in the championship standings, behind Oscar Piastri and Norris, and will be aiming for a strong result to close the gap.
