Formula E team CUPRA KIRO appointed Mark Turner as Operations Manager today. He is the latest addition to its senior leadership team as the preparations for Season 12 get more serious. The move follows last week’s announcement that former Formula E team manager champion Gary Paffett had joined the team as Racing Director.
“Another important milestone”
Turner’s arrival comes after a breakthrough debut campaign in which CUPRA KIRO scored its first pole position, podium and race win. Chief Operating Officer Russel O’Hagan applauded the appointment as “yet another important milestone in the evolution of CUPRA KIRO.” He emphasised the importance of having “the right people in key leadership positions” to carry the team forward. O’Hagan described Turner’s background as a major asset in raising standards across the operation.
Turner brings more than two decades of international motorsport experience to the young team. Most recently, Sporting Manager for the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC). He oversaw events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the British Touring Car Championship, British Formula 4, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB and TCR UK. He also served as Championship Manager for Formula E’s Jaguar I-PACE eTHROPY and previously led the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup in Asia for eight seasons.
“Thrilled to be joining”
Turner said he is excited to be joining CUPRA KIRO at a defining moment in its development. “The progress the team made last season was hugely impressive, and it’s clear that there is a real sense of ambition and purpose at every level,” he said.
He stated that operational excellence would be his priority, underlining that the backbone of any successful sporting organisation lies in effective processes and structures. His goal, Turner explained, was to work closely with the entire company to ensure the team continues to push forward as it prepares for the next season.
With Turner and Paffett now in place, CUPRA KIRO is setting its sights on turning debut success into a sustained challenge in Season 12.
