Day 2 of the London E-Prix as we get ready for the final free practice of the season. What a thrilling season it has been, seeing as Oliver Rowland was crowned Formula E champion. There are still two titles up for grabs, but Tag Heuer Porsche is holding them tightly.

Bumpy Start

After five minutes of being green for FP3, Stoffel Vandoorne went into the runoff with a slight bump of the barrier, resulting in a brief yellow flag at turn one. His lap time was then removed due to track limits.

The field was continually shifting as lap times started to be recorded while drivers were warming up. As Nyck De Vries makes a strong save and scrapes the wall in turn 1, David Beckmann’s lap time was erased for track limits.

Close Calls & Track Limits

Edo Mortara claimed P1 with a timing of 1:09.059 with 28 minutes left. Lap 8 was deleted for Beckman and Dan Ticktum for exceeding track limits. More drivers are running wide, getting too close to the walls, and dodging slower drivers on the circuit with near misses as they push the boundaries.

With twenty-five minutes left, drivers were making their way to the pit, but Jake Hughes has not yet joined FP3 due to ongoing technical issues. Lucas Di Grassi had to use the runoff due to a slight oversteer; turn one is proving to be a challenging section of the course as it startles drivers.

Even though De Vries was flying, he hit the curb more forcefully than he had anticipated after going deep in the first corner. There are eighteen minutes left, with Mortara leading again with a time of 1:07.392, Da Costa in P2 and Wehrlein in P3. Beckman locks up and goes deep with 14 minutes remaining, ending up in the runoff. He needed to make a quick three-point turn to get back on track.

Racing the Hands of Time

Nico Mueller took P6 after his flying lap, while Jake Dennis leapt to P2 after his lap. With a time of 1:07.270, Ticktum took P1 and has improved greatly from yesterday. As the team continued to work on the car, Hughes had yet to set a time or join the session.

With nine minutes left, Taylor Barnard, who is pushing hard, pulls out of the lap and heads into pit lane. With a lap time of 1:07.223, Mitch Evans leaps from P19 to P1. Wehrlein came in hard with five minutes left, catching some traffic, but he claims P1 with a time of 1:07.045.

There is some tension for the Cupra Kiro driver as a result of De Vries ‘rejoining in front of Ticktum, who was on a flying lap, after he had to use the runoff after going too deep. With 30 seconds left in the session, Vandoorne finishes third fastest. Evans takes P1 after Di Grassi comes into contact with Max Günther, ruining both laps

Evans Snags P1 Amid FP3 Turmoil

Both Di Grassi’s practice start and the incident involving Wehrlein and Sebastian Buemi were noted by race control. With a little drama to finish the session, FP3 is over. Evans, Wehrlein, and Vandoorne are our top three.

Will Tag Heuer Porsche win the team and manufacturing titles? Tune in for the final round of qualifying and the race later today.
