Mitch Evans isn’t mincing words as he prepares for the final Formula E race weekend of 2025. The Jaguar TCS Racing driver has been a regular title contender in past years. In a recent interview with The Girls Who – Motorsport, he called his current campaign one of the toughest of his career.

Disappointing. Disaster. Character-building in lots of different ways, Evans said on Friday in London. Even those two wins have been below where we should be.

The New Zealander secured two victories this season but admitted there wasn’t much else worth celebrating.

There’s a lot that we could have improved, done differently or better,he said. Really my two highlights are my two wins. Hopefully I can have some more this weekend—but apart from that, yeah… it’s been tough.

Evans also weighed in on Formula E’s new pit boost system, which has received mixed reactions throughout the paddock.

I probably need a political answer for this one, he joked. It’s up to the fans — that’s the biggest judge. If they love it, great. If they find it confusing or don’t enjoy it, we need to revisit it.

The Jaguar TCS Racing driver pointed out that while the intention behind pit boost might be to shake up racing, it hasn’t always delivered in execution. The races are really difficult to follow — even when you’re in the race. If we do keep it, we need to work on trying to reduce the stop time.

Despite the setbacks this year, Evans is already looking ahead to season 12 with clear intent.

“Just trying to be back on top, closer to the front. Fighting for championships,” he said. “Ideally be in the hunt this time next year.”

After a difficult season, the London E-Prix offers one last shot at redemption and a chance to end on a high before resetting for the battles to come.
