The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship returns to London for a double-header season finale on July 25–27, 2025.

As the series closes out its eleventh season, the drivers are headed to the unique ExCeL London circuitpartly indoors, partly outdoors—for one last hurrah.

London will serve as the home race for several drivers, including World Champion Oliver Rowland, Dan Ticktum, Jake Dennis, Sam Bird, and Taylor Barnard, crowning them as the weekend’s home heroes.

It’s also the final weekend for NEOM McLaren, as they bid farewell to the championship in what will be their last Formula E appearance.

Teams’ and Manufacturers’ Championship

The Drivers’ Championship closed its chapter last week in Berlin, as Oliver Rowland clinched his first title of the series.

With the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ Championships still open, the closing weekend will ensure every team is on their A-game to conclude an exciting season.

TAG Heuer Porsche currently leads the Teams’ Championship with 228 points, with Nissan close behind on 205.

The Manufacturers’ title—an FIA-recognised award introduced this season—also sees Porsche in the lead, thanks to strong results not only from the factory squad but also from customer teams like Andretti and CUPRA KIRO.

Nissan holds second place in both championships. Their effort has been led almost entirely by Rowland, who scored 184 of Nissan’s 205 points, while the team is also supported by customer outfit NEOM McLaren.

A One-of-a-Kind Circuit

The ExCeL Circuit remains one of the most unique and distinctive on the Formula E calendar. It’s the only track that runs inside and outside.

The 2.08 km, 20-turn layout starts beneath the cavernous roof of the ExCeL Centre, before transitioning out onto the Royal Docks. The layout offers a jarring contrast in surfaces—grippy polished indoor flooring giving way to bumpy, weather-affected outdoor asphalt and metal strips.

These sudden surface changes require drivers to adapt their energy management and strategy in real time, balancing outright pace with efficient power conservation for a late-race push.

Frequent shifts in grip, elevation and lighting—especially under rainy conditions, which have affected previous editions—make the London E-Prix a technical challenge like no other, especially under the Gen3 Evo specification, featuring faster acceleration, improved regen, and agile handling.

This weekend also introduces the new ‘PIT BOOST’ feature—a mandatory 30-second stop that delivers a 600kW energy boost, to be taken when the State of Charge is between 40% and 60%, adding a new tactical layer to the race.

NEOM McLaren Says Goodbye

This weekend also marks the final race for the NEOM McLaren Formula E team. Drivers Sam Bird and Taylor Barnard have delivered strong performances throughout the season, though their future in Formula E remains unconfirmed.

To conclude their campaign, the team will run a new livery and race suits—transitioning from their iconic papaya colour to a special blue “away kit”, developed in collaboration with Oxagon, NEOM’s industrial city.

Barnard has been a powerful force this season with five podiums and two pole positions, and at one point, he even led the Drivers’ Championship.

This weekend is a chance to see both drivers sign off in style, with hopes for a final podium at best.
