The second free practice session of Moto2 at the Brno Automotodrom delivered new track records as well as a home hero moment for the Czech fans. As the return to the circut is a big event, even the Czech president made a special appearance. He arrived in style on his own motorcycle.

Early pace and track limits violations

Salač had his opening lap deleted due to track limits violation, but that didn’t stop the local favourite from keeping the momentum from his strong P2 showing. Yesterday, the rain-hit session was even disrupted by a red flag, so it wasn’t fully representative. Salač’s Friday time was already good enough to secure him a direct slot into Q2.

The early pace in FP2 was set by a tight group including Guevara, González, Arbolino, Roberts, and Salač himself. Riders began heading into the pits after the first 10 minutes, with González opting to swap his front tyre too.

Final runs with records and yellow flags

As the session entered its final 10 minutes, lap times began to fall again. With seven minutes remaining, Agius crashed in Turn 1, triggering a yellow flag. Marshals were quick to respond, helping him back on the bike and returning the session to green flag conditions.

González was the first to break the Moto2 track record at Brno with a lightning quick 1:58.859. Roberts soon stole the spotlight with a 1:58.708, making him the second rider to dip under the 1:59 barrier — and fastest of all.

Salač then thrilled the home crowd with a strong P3, staying just a tenths above the magical 1:59. In the final minutes, Guevara crashed in Sector 3, once again bringing out yellow flags, which led to several lap time cancellations. Roberts, however, improved his own best lap despite the interruption, underlining his dominant form.

Roberts stays on top

The American closed the session with another near-identical lap time — only 0.018 seconds slower than his best. It was a testament to his consistency and pace. His closest challenger, González, ended four tenths behind. Salač held firm in third to the delight of the home fans including the local president, Petr Pavel.

It is the second practice session Roberts now finished on top in Czechia. Is he the biggest contender for a win?
