The second free practice session ended with a mix of surprises, setbacks, and standout performances. One of the most dramatic moments came just minutes before the checkered flag, when Joel Kelso suffered a heavy highside crash, cutting his session short. Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of serious injuries.

Drier Track, Higher Pace—but Still Unfamiliar

With improved weather conditions after Friday’s rain, several riders took advantage of new tires to attempt a time attack. The drier track provided better grip, but for many riders, the combination of unfamiliar asphalt and a new circuit layout added to the challenge.

David Muñoz completed only eight laps in the session. His limited running could be attributed to technical issues or lingering effects from crashes the previous day. Likewise, Jacob Roulstone managed just seven laps and spent a significant portion of the session in the box, possibly due to mechanical troubles.

Carpe Struggles as Rueda Shines Again

After the surprise of topping the time sheets in an earlier session, Alvaro Carpe struggled in FP2, finishing near the bottom of the standings. At the top of the timesheet, José Antonio Rueda continued his strong form this weekend, setting the fastest lap. He was followed closely by Angel Fernandez and Adrian Quiles.

Ahead of Sunday’s race, controversy surrounds David Muñoz, winner of the recent Sachsenring GP. He has been handed a severe penalty and will start Sunday’s race from the back of the grid. The sanction was issued after Friday’s Pre-Qualifying session, during which Muñoz was found to be riding too slowly through Turn 4, impeding the laps of both Rueda and Ryusei Yamanaka.

With qualifying approaching and several top riders out of rhythm or dealing with setbacks, Sunday’s race promises to be full of unpredictable twists and high stakes.
