Théo Pourchaire is one of the most sought-after talents among young drivers, not currently locked into a long-term race seat—and he knows it. After winning the Formula 2 championship in 2023 and serving as a reserve and development driver for multiple F1 teams. To now driving in ELMS, working as a reservist for Peugeot in WEC and participating in the Formula E Rookie Test.
“I’m a homeless racing driver right now,” he said with a smile, but the statement rings true. Without a fixed seat in a series, Pourchaire is navigating the modern motorsport maze. A walk, where talent alone isn’t always enough to decide your next step.
Finding His Feet in Formula E
His time in the simulator and real-world outings in Formula E, first in FP0 at Jeddah and now in Berlin, have clearly left an impression. “I know the car a little bit […] I feel ready to drive at any time in Formula E. At the moment nothing is sure. I think it would be great for sure before going into the GEN4 to have a bit more race experience. I’m doing a lot of simulator work with Stellantis, working already on the future,“ he underlined to the media, including The Girls Who – Motorsport.
Pourchaire’s adaptability stands out. He has shown speed in F2 and his composure in endurance racing. Now he’s proving a clear technical understanding of what it takes to extract pace from a Formula E car.

The French driver placed fourth fastest in the first session of the Berlin Rookie Test. The Maserati MSG Racing car clocked a 58.056, just 0.432 seconds off Gabriele Minì’s benchmark time. That speed, combined with the knowledge he continues to gather as a reserve driver, makes him a valuable asset for any team planning ahead. But the question remains—where does he want to be?
A Driver Ready for Anything
“Endurance racing is very cool. Formula E is very cool. Some drivers are doing both championships. And it’s clearly looking very nice to do,” explains Pourchaire.
With GEN4 looming in the future and several Formula E teams likely to shake up their line-ups, Pourchaire is in a strong position to step into the electric arena full-time, if he chooses to commit to the series.
Formula E offers the kind of competitive, tech-driven environment that rewards drivers like him: analytical, adaptable, and relentlessly fast. Whether it’s the energy of city circuits or the endurance grind of WEC, one thing is certain: Théo Pourchaire is ready. He just needs a place to call home.
