Changing Grip, Same Leader
Free Practice 2 of the German Grand Prix unfolded under grey skies and on a drying Sachsenring track. Conditions were tricky, with a damp surface increasing the risk of crashes. Yet the grip remained surprisingly strong, allowing riders to push carefully.
Miller’s Early Statement
The first ten minutes saw Jack Miller set the pace, making the most of the wet conditions before the track began to evolve. But as the surface slowly dried, the session quieted down, both in action and lap times.
Pain Management for Marini and Á. Márquez
Lucas Marini returned to the grid nursing a sore clavicle, adjusting his riding style to limit the pain. Álex Márquez also continued to suffer from hand pain, visibly holding back but still managing to place inside the top five.
Márquez Controls the Endgame
A small slide at turn 8 didn’t stop Marc Márquez from dominating the second half of the session. The Ducati Lenovo rider adapted perfectly to the improving track and clocked the fastest time just as he had in FP1.
Tight Times at the Top
- M. Márquez (Ducati Lenovo) – 1:28.277
- Viñales (Aprilia Racing) – +0.030
- Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo) – +0.081
- Miller (Red Bull KTM) – +0.111
- Á. Márquez (Gresini Ducati) – +0.152
What’s Next
With grip levels changing rapidly and margins tighter than ever, Saturday’s qualifying sessions could reshuffle the hierarchy. Márquez looks in full control, but Sachsenring has a history of surprises and the weekend is just getting started.
