Round 12 of the 2025 Formula One World Championship takes place on Sunday, the 6th of July, in Great Britain. Nestled in the English countryside sits the birthplace of Formula One, Silverstone.

The 5.891km of track promises excitement, thrill, and suspense laid out over 52 laps. Silverstone marks the home race for four British drivers. Each of them will look to impress the crowd, score a great haul of points, and even aim for the win.

As one of the most anticipated tracks on the calendar, Silverstone sees over 480,000 attendees yearly. 2025 marks the 76th British Grand Prix, after continuously holding its place on the Formula One calendar.

Home Heroes

This weekend, we can expect to see action from across F4, F3, and F2. As well as Formula One, Lando Norris is expected to aim to bridge the gap between him and his McLaren teammate for the World Championship lead. Meanwhile, his fans will cheer him on from his very own Landostand.

George Russell will also be keen to score more podiums in front of his home crowd. This is alongside former teammate Lewis Hamilton, who will be competing in his first British Grand Prix since joining Ferrari. 20-year-old rookie Ollie Bearman, will also start in his first-ever F1 British Grand Prix.

Special Liveries

Three teams will be sporting special liveries for the BGP this weekend. McLaren references their chrome era by adding some silver shine to their car for the weekend.

The Racing Bulls have updated their livery to include street artist Slawn’s signature art style. Additionally, Williams has added a small ‘W’ shaped Union Jack on the nosecone.

Strategy to Expect

Pirelli have opted for softer tyres for this year’s Grand Prix. They are providing the C2 as hard compound, C3 as medium, and C4 as soft. In 2024, the C3 tyre was allocated as the softest tyre. However, it wasn’t used by many drivers until the closing stages of the race.

In 2025, using the C3 as the medium compound will ensure more variety in strategy for the teams.

Silverstone is one of the longest tracks on the calendar, hosting 18 corners, including the iconic Maggots and Becketts. These corners involve rapid changes in speed and direction, making it challenging for many drivers.

Due to the Silverstone circuit being used all year round, the track provides great grip for racing all weekend.

The weather is poised to significantly influence the outcome of Sunday’s race. Despite falling in the height of summer, the British Grand Prix remains at the mercy of unpredictable weather. Whether it’s a sudden downpour or soaring heat, conditions could play a major role in deciding the outcome on Sunday.
