Formula E and the FIA have today unveiled a historic 18-race calendar. The 2026 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will be featuring a pair of young racetracks in Madrid and Miami. The calendar, officially validated by the FIA World Motor Sport Council, marks the longest season in the series’ history.
Season 12 will begin on 6 December 2025 in São Paulo and conclude with a classic double-header finale in London on 15–16 August 2026. The campaign includes stops in 12 major cities. It introduces two highly anticipated long-term additions. A race at the Miami International Autodrome and a debut at Madrid’s Circuito de Madrid-Jarama. This marks the first World Championship-level motorsport event in the Spanish capital in 37 years.
Expanding the Global Reach
With keeping Miami in the calendar, the Hard Rock Stadium track reflects Formula E’s growing presence in the North American market. Certainly the sport is there, building on a momentum from its first EVO Sessions event earlier this year. This Madrid round represents a milestone for co-founder and Chief Championship Officer Alberto Longo. He has for a long time pushed for a more classic home race in Spain.
“With at least two fantastic new circuits joining the roster, we’re enhancing the diversity of what fans can expect,” said Longo. “It’s a mix that makes our racing so compelling to watch.”
Sustainability Front and Centre
The calendar has been strategically grouped by continent, the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific. Clearly to reduce freight mileage and lower CO₂ emissions, reinforcing Formula E’s commitment to sustainable motorsport. CEO Jeff Dodds stressed the importance of accessibility and calendar stability:
“Our debut in Madrid and increase in total races demonstrates our mission and intent to continually grow the series in key markets,” Dodds said. “We’re becoming easier to find, engage with, and attend — unlocking greater fan loyalty and love.”
The End of an Era
The 2025-26 season will be the final campaign for the GEN3 Evo. Followed by the much-anticipated debut of the GEN4 race car in season 13. FIA Circuit Sport Director Marek Nawarecki highlighted the variety of race locations and layouts as a key strength of the new schedule:
“The Season 12 calendar provides a world-class platform to showcase Formula E at its very best… The variety of track layouts will ensure diverse and exciting race scenarios with the GEN3 Evo car.”
With two venues still to be confirmed and ongoing negotiations nearing completion, Formula E’s global momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Season 12 promises a thrilling mix of innovation, speed, and spectacle, as electric racing continues to charge forward.
Announced earlier today, Formula 1 has unveiled their 2026 race calendar, featuring again 24 Grands Prix, with the addition of the new Madrid racetrack.
